The "Seth Piyasa" Cancer Treatment Centre (Stage II) at the National Hospital Kandy, the largest cancer treatment centre in the country built within a General Hospital, and was added to the treatment services on 02nd October, 2025 under the patronage of the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.

The project was constructed by Central Engineering Services (Pvt) Ltd with funding from the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, has the capacity to provide indoor treatment for 65 patients. The 12 storied “Seth Piyasa” building complex comprises essential facilities for cancer treatment, including an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), High Dependency Units (HDU), Air Handling Unit (AHU), Male and Female Ward Areas, Operation Theatres, Mini Operation Theatre, Chemo Preparation Room, PET Scanner Room, Gamma Camera Room, X-RAY Room, Treatment Areas, Clinic Areas, Drug Stores, Auditoriums, Lift Machine Room, Water Tanks Area and Supporting Machines. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3,273 million.

The inauguration was attended by Deputy Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Health and Mass Media Dinipriya Herath, Director of the Kandy National Hospital Dr. Iresha Fernando, Deputy Director of the hospital, hospital secretary, doctors, nurses, other health staff, as well as Eng. M.N. Gunasena, Chief Operations Engineer (Central Province) of CESL; Eng. H.P. Rohitha Pushpakumara (Senior Operations Engineer, Central Province III) of CESL; along with engineers and heads of CESL Central Province.

At that time, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa agreed to support us by releasing all the funds on time for the completion of the Bone Marrow Unit, Cancer Treatment Centre and Isolation Ward Complex building in 2026/27 and also requested our support for carrying out the remaining work. The Hospital Director also highly appreciated the CESL team in her speech and everyone appreciated the quality of the work.
