Ceremonial Opening of the Male and Female Student Halls of Residence and Facilities at KDU Southern Campus at Sooriyawewa, Hambantota.

 

Once again CESL is honoured to be associated with the Sir John Kotalawala Defence University in designing, constructing two number of residential buildings and associated facilities for Male and Female Student accommodation at KDU Southern Campus at Sooriyawewa, Hambantota. The project was competitively secured by CESL under open bidding and completed by CESL at the total cost of Rs. 297million (excluding taxes). The Architectural and Structural design partner for the project was Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB) with construction directly implemented under CESL Southern division. The project was successfully completed in the target 9 months by 31 May 2023.
Of the proposed four storied twin buildings, two stories in each hall of residence consisting of 28 rooms on twin sharing basis and accommodating 56 students in each building and equipped with attached bathrooms, TV room, warden room, and study areas etc have been completed.
The halls of residence were ceremonially declared open at the Southern Campus of KDU on 28th July 2023 by the Secretary of Defense, and graced by the Vice Chancellor of KDU, Chief of Staff, Commanders of the Tri-forces, Director Construction of Sri Lanka Navy, and other visiting delegates. The CESL was represented at the ceremony by Eng. L.W.J.N. De Alwis, CEO, CESL; Eng. J.D. Sunil COE (South) and Eng. K.G. Janaka SOE (South).
